Rail Baltica is the largest Baltic transport infrastructure project that will create the North-East economic corridor. It will be an electrified, high speed railway line with modern infrastructure for passenger and freight services, ensuring environmentally friendly and fast transportation from Tallinn to the Lithuanian-Polish border. Rail Baltica will connect the Baltic States with Central and Western Europe. The project is largely co-financed by the European Union.

RB Rail AS is looking for a new enthusiastic colleague to join our growing team in a position of Construction Material Engineer.

JOB PURPOSE

The primary responsibilities of the Construction Materials Engineer will be to serve in a technical role including the planning, analysis, design, and detailing substructure of Rail Baltica railway. Construction Materials Engineer shall ensure that Rail Baltica project implements the most reasonable and cost-effective technical solutions from lifecycle perspective and shall ensure that Rail Baltica project is fully aligned with EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and applicable harmonised EN product specifications.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering.
  • 3+ years’ experience working with construction materials and/or prefabricated concrete elements related with infrastructure construction (e.g. production, laboratory testing, designing, construction, etc.) and European product specifications related with concrete (EN 206), prefabricated elements or aggregates (e.g. EN 206, EN 1917, EN 12620, EN 13285, EN 13043, etc.).
  • Good understanding of EU regulation No. 305/2011 (Construction Products Regulation – CPR) and good background knowledge of European Single Market principles.
  • Good overview about construction materials’ related standard and standardization process.
  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project.
  • Fluent in English and good command of technical terms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analysis and design review for all aspects related prefabricated concrete elements used on Rail Baltica railway project.
  • Develop and review specifications related with culvers, manholes, drainage elements submitted by the Design Consultants.
  • Oversee the quality of deliverables (materials’ specifications).
  • In accordance with the employer’s request and within the scope of the work responsibilities, to participate in the preparation of technical specifications and participate at the RB Rail AS public procurement committees.
  • Develop a up to date Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) program and ensure its implementation during the construction phase.
  • To develop Rail Baltica asset management system in cooperation with BIM manager.
  • To work out construction and maintenance requirements.
  • To prepare a list of supporting studies and budget, prepare technical specifications for public procurements and manage contract implementation
  • Review assigned work and/or check design volume estimates and specifications provided by Design Consultants.
  • Close cooperation with the national Implementing Bodies and other stakeholders.

SALARY

Starting from 3000 EUR gross (before taxes).

RB RAIL AS Branch office in Riga, Latvia.

Rail Baltica plans, develops and manages all technical aspects of entire Rail Baltica project to achieve cross-border interoperability. RB Rail AS is the three Baltic States’ joint venture, it was established in October 2014 and is registered in Latvia. Main business of the joint venture is the design, construction and marketing of the railway. RB Rail acts as a main coordinator of the project.
